About The Position

Torch Technologies is seeking a Senior Automated Test System Architect to join our team and serve as the Lead Architect for a modular Automated PXI-Based Test System. This role provides technical leadership across a multidisciplinary team, translating complex test requirements into scalable, modular, and maintainable automated test architectures aligned with MOSA principles. As a Senior Automated Test System Architect, your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in automated test systems, electrical engineering, or systems engineering
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active secret clearance.
  • Experience developing automated test systems
  • Experience with Unit Under Test (UUT) testing in defense environments
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead in a team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in defense, aerospace, or engineering environments

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • Experience supporting DoD or Federal programs
  • Programming or software experience with C#, LabVIEW, or NI TestStand
  • Experience integrating software and hardware in automated test environments
  • Experience with PXI/PXIe architectures and high-performance switching systems
  • Experience with ATE interconnect solutions
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and leading technical efforts

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of a modular PXI-based Automated Test System (ATS), including interconnects and cables
  • Translate Unit Under Test (UUT) requirements, including inputs, outputs, functions, and interfaces, into executable test architectures
  • Develop self-test and system health monitoring architectures
  • Evaluate, down-select, and integrate COTS instrumentation, switching systems, power systems, and interconnect solutions
  • Define and implement Hardware Abstraction Layers (HALs) to support long-term sustainment and software portability
  • Oversee system verification and validation activities, including requirements traceability and test coverage
  • Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across electrical, software, mechanical, and test engineering domains
  • Ensure alignment with Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA) requirements and open architecture principles
  • Contribute to system safety analyses and ensure compliance with applicable safety standards
  • Interface with customers and stakeholders to communicate architecture decisions, risks, and technical trade studies
  • Support system integration, troubleshooting, and system-level debugging efforts
