The Senior Auditor plays a key role in leading and executing complex financial, operational, compliance, and data-driven audits at Argonne National Laboratory. This position is responsible for planning audit engagements, performing data analytics, and providing assurance and advisory services that strengthen risk management, governance, and internal control processes. The Senior Auditor works closely with Principal Auditor and the Chief Audit Executive to deliver high-impact audit results aligned with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Standards and federal requirements. Key Responsibilities Lead the planning and execution of audits across financial, operational, and compliance functions in accordance with IIA Standards. Perform and direct data analytics to identify control gaps, inefficiencies, fraud risks, and emerging issues. Evaluate the design and effectiveness of internal controls related to DOE Orders, FAR, and federal compliance requirements. Lead audits of cost allowability, subcontractor oversight, procurement, indirect cost allocations, and research compliance. Review the work of Staff Auditors, providing technical guidance and developmental feedback. Prepare audit reports with audit findings, recommendations, and risk mitigation strategies. Conduct follow-up reviews and validate the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Internal Audit function, including audit methodology, automation, and analytics capabilities. This position is mostly on-site and requires the ability to maintain a minimum of three-day per week on-site presence at the Argonne National Laboratory site in Lemont, Illinois. The first 30 days will require an on-site presence of 4 days per week.
