A Day in the Life We’re expanding our Corporate Audit team to support more strategic, advisory‑oriented work. The Senior Auditor is a seasoned professional individual contributor on the Corporate Audit team. The Senior Auditor assists with, and leads the execution of department projects, (audit, consulting, and administrative), with oversight from management and collaboration with other team members. The Senior Auditor coaches and reviews the work of other professionals. As a member of the Corporate Audit team, the Senior Auditor will contribute to Corporate Audit’s mission, which is to preserve and enhance shareholder value through the independent and objective identification and evaluation of risks, the assessment of the integrity and effectiveness of internal controls, and the evaluation and promotion of operational excellence across the global Medtronic enterprise. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 4 + years of audit, financial, internal controls or relevant other experience

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Public Accounting (preferably Big 4) experience
  • Achievement (or working toward achievement) of professional certification, such as CPA, MBA, CIA, or, CMA.
  • Skilled in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio)
  • Experience with internal control design and testing
  • Fluent in English
  • Strong professional acumen and verbal/written communication skills
  • Solid critical thinking and analysis
  • Ability to work independently, with moderate oversight, as well as collaboratively as part of team
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships through trust, respect, and high integrity
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in use of technology
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Executes individual work and oversees the work of others, while exhibiting an awareness and ability to connect work to department and business initiatives.
  • Performs audit projects in accordance with department standard operating procedures, as well as International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
  • Ensures all documentation evidences work performed in a complete, accurate and organized manner, demonstrates a complete understanding of the work performed, supports conclusions reached and complies with quality standards.
  • Exhibits a clear understanding of risk-based auditing concepts, SOX 404 procedures, and testing strategies.
  • Operates in an organized manner, including: maintaining an open items list, managing multiple projects, following up timely with business partners and others to move tasks along, and escalating issues and open items on a timely basis.
  • Prepares meeting materials and leads meetings, as appropriate.
  • Takes notes and remains engaged during conversations and meetings with business partners and department management.
  • Coaches team members on general audit processes, technology, and department operations. Assists them in meeting their job requirements.
  • Provides meaningful and constructive real-time feedback to team members.
  • Provides regular, timely, and/or as requested updates to management on project status. Escalates project issues or delays to management, preferably with a recommended solution or conclusion.
  • Owns the coordination/delegation of project tasks and resulting key deliverables.
  • Manages project timeline to ensure timely completion.
  • Communicates project results to key stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Obtains direction and drives agreement on project objectives from the management team.
  • Refines project objectives/scope and succinctly describes scoping rationale to key stakeholders.
  • Takes ownership of department operations, becoming Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more department operations areas.
  • Understands and acknowledges the Corporate Audit Mission and Charter.
  • Understands the Medtronic business, analyzes issues, and connects to strategic direction.
  • Collaborates with others, develops self, and embraces diversity and inclusion.
  • Understands impact on patient and customer, generates ideas, and embraces change.
