About The Position

The Senior Audio Visual Systems Installation Technician position is a critical part of the Technology Integration team. The installation team performs the hardware and physical labor installations that form the foundation of complex, high quality integrated systems. Working with the LAITS Technology Integration system designers, the project manager, the work control coordinator, and other both internal and external project resources, this Senior Installation Technician absorbs all details of individual projects prior to construction, generates project documentation, leads junior technicians in the active construction process, leads the system installation closeout process, generates as-built documentation, and assists in team training and building exercises.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical Schooling in AV specific field(s).
  • At least four years of work experience in audio visual systems installation.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools, soldering iron, crimpers, multimeters, signal generators, and testers.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to troubleshoot and assist with the commissioning of AV systems of varying size and complexity.
  • Skills comparable to one year interpreting and generating electronic schematics, architectural layouts and markups, and other diagrams in a technical field.
  • Demonstrated skilled use of various industry standard computer applications for documentation generation and modification.
  • This position requires the ability to drive a university vehicle.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in construction or engineering discipline.
  • More than six years of work experience in audio visual systems installation.
  • More than two years generating project documentation for complex AV systems at an enterprise level.
  • OSHA 10+- hour course training.
  • CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D certification.
  • Crestron CTI certification.
  • Biamp DSP training.
  • Extron AV associate certification.

Responsibilities

  • Performing or supporting senior installation staff when performing the highest level installation work.
  • Leading junior installation staff in various, more common installation tasks.
  • Responsible for absorbing project details for all incoming projects and generating schematic diagrams and project plans for use by the LAITS Technology Integrations group.
  • Understanding project timelines and generating deliverables accordingly.
  • Ensuring that all generated documents are coordinated with the designers and programming team, verifying accuracy and coordinating document reviews prior to distribution.
  • Uploading project documentation to project management tools and alerting the leadership team that all documents are ready for construction.
  • Performing regular checks in the field to ensure compliance with the issued build documents and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with senior technicians and train junior technicians on best practices during installation tasks.
  • Coordinate with programming team to ensure any necessary field variation is congruent with the programming scheme.
  • Redlining build documents to reflect as-built variation and perform final quality control on completed work to ensure compliance with project documents.
  • Create final as-built document file for internal archive, the support team, and other project partners.
  • Perform a check in after project completion to promote constant improvement.
