About The Position

This is a Senior Attorney position in our Administrative Law Section located at our Tallahassee office. The attorney in this position represents the Department in all phases of administrative proceedings under Chapter 120, Florida Statutes, including pre- and post-hearing matters, discovery, pleadings, motion hearings, public meetings, negotiations, settlement conferences, bid protest litigation, access management, and other legal matters.

Requirements

  • This position requires overnight travel.

Responsibilities

  • Represents the Department in all phases of administrative proceedings under Chapter 120, Florida Statutes, including pre- and post-hearing matters, discovery, pleadings, motion hearings, public meetings, negotiations, settlement conferences, bid protest litigation, access management, and other legal matters.
  • Represents the Department in court proceedings.
  • Provides legal assistance and advice to Department offices, as assigned, and advises responsible personnel in those offices regarding their legal powers and duties, how the law effects their operations, and the implementation of policies and rules.
  • Advises responsible Department personnel regarding the adoption of the most appropriate rules to accomplish their duties, drafts rule language, conducts hearings if requested, and assists with correspondence associated with such rulemaking. Expected to identify the need for rulemaking and provide advice to affected Department offices that rules should be adopted, amended, or repealed.
