About The Position

North America Markets Legal is seeking an experienced lawyer with experience in structured finance (including securitization), commercial real estate and housing finance to provide legal counsel and support to businesses within Spread Products in the New York office. A primary responsibility of this role will be to provide legal coverage for Citi Community Capital, a business unit at Citi responsible for originating, underwriting and securitizing loans that finance multifamily affordable financing as well making Low Income Housing Tax Credit and other equity investments in affordable housing and community development. Applicants should have experience in structured finance and securitizations and commercial real estate, ideally with background in the Community Reinvestment Act. Responsibilities include: Advising the businesses on relevant legal and market developments and Citi policies; Maintaining and updating model loan documentation; Partnering with businesses in recommending, developing and executing business plans; Leading transactional negotiations for securitizations and loan transactions; and Working closely with control function partners, internal review committees, and industry organizations. Qualifications: 7+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services Banking or financial industry experience, including laws related to banking regulations Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and practices while staying abreast of regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business Experience with complex deals, demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop legal solutions Effective communication and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships Excellent interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills Proven ability to apply sound judgement while managing assignments in a demanding, fast-paced environment Bar license in good standing to practice law Education: Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in financial services
• Banking or financial industry experience, including laws related to banking regulations
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and practices while staying abreast of regulatory and legal environment, internal policies and industry trends that impact the business
• Experience with complex deals, demonstrated ability to analyze issues and develop legal solutions
• Effective communication and negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain trusted relationships
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and relationship management skills
• Proven ability to apply sound judgement while managing assignments in a demanding, fast-paced environment
• Bar license in good standing to practice law
