About The Position

The Division of Advancement and Alumni Engagement utilizes resources, technology, and business for the purpose of constituent engagement, donor research and solicitation, and stewardship throughout Emory University and Health Systems. We are currently seeking a Senior Associate Vice President for Advancement - Woodruff Health Sciences Center. The Advancement and Woodruff Health Sciences Center team is responsible for partnering with physicians, researchers and faculty leaders to identify and engage potential supporters and influencers. This position will work to execute a comprehensive prospect and pipeline development program by managing data entry associated with prospect tracking, identifying major and leadership prospects through database mining, and providing activity reports to aid in the day-to-day performance management of development officers. This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Advancement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and ten years of experience in fundraising and demonstrated success in designing, implementing, and administering programs related to major and principal gift fundraising, fundraising activities, volunteer management, marketing or related fields with team leadership and staff management experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Successful candidates will possess experience as lead solicitor, closing gifts of ($100K+ and $1M) from prospects, working in billion dollar comprehensive campaigns.
  • Prior experience working with corporations, foundations, including planned and deferred giving, alumni engagement, non-profit, or a university setting.
  • Experience managing budgets and financial reports, working with various technologies including advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Suite, mass email applications, database and project management software, and CRM systems.
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving skills with attention to detail, the ability to work with ambiguity, navigate a complex work environment, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience leading teams and departments, working independently as well as collaboratively to achieve goals, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Master’s level degree.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills as well as effective presentation skills.
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and commitment to confidentiality with sound judgment and discretion.
  • Capacity to lead and develop a team’s skills through effective feedback and coaching, motivating and empowering colleagues while being institutionally minded, strategic, and impactful.
  • Flexibility to accommodate changing priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Senior Vice President for Advancement and Alumni Engagement, the Senior Associate Vice President for Advancement is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to identify, cultivate, and successfully solicit individuals, corporations, and foundations for major gifts to support Emory University schools, units, clinical, and grateful patient programs.
  • Manages a team of staff that performs at the highest levels with sustained success in managing individual, corporate, foundation, and activity for multiple schools and units.
  • Serves as a key member of the senior leadership team for Advancement and Alumni Engagement and facilitates partnerships across the University and Healthcare.
  • Manages a portfolio of leadership and principal gift prospects; systematically moves solicitation of gifts from these contacts forward according to readiness.
  • Leads the strategic planning process for their department, policy making for department-wide initiatives, and represents the division at university functions or healthcare functions.
  • Develops and manages budgets. Some travel is required. Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Meet individual metrics for donor meetings, qualification outcomes, solicitations, dollars raised and stewardship.
  • Represent the department, school/unit, division, or University.
