About The Position

The team leverages this domain expertise to guide its research-based investment approach and to drive growth and scale across its portfolio after initial investment. We are seeking a Senior Associate, Ventures to support Energize’s early-stage venture capital investing efforts. This role is designed for an investment professional with strong analytical and execution capabilities who is eager to deepen judgment, expand ownership, and progress toward lead investor responsibilities within a growing platform. The Senior Associate will support investments across the full lifecycle, including market research and thematic development, sourcing and origination, investment diligence and underwriting, and transaction execution. Working closely with Principals and Partners, the Senior Associate will play a key role in evaluating new opportunities, building investment theses, and supporting deal teams through close. Following investment, the Senior Associate will support ongoing portfolio engagement through research, analysis, and special projects, and assist Principals in monitoring performance and advancing portfolio value creation initiatives. The role will also involve close collaboration with Energize’s Edge portfolio services and Operations teams to support portfolio and firm-wide initiatives. The Senior Associate, Ventures will report to one of our Principals. Our successful candidate will have experience supporting early-stage venture or growth equity investments, investment banking, private equity, or related roles, with demonstrated strength in financial analysis, diligence, and market research. Energize has a team-first, highly collaborative culture; accordingly, in addition to strong technical qualifications, candidates with high emotional intelligence, intellectual curiosity, and a demonstrated ability to thrive in team-based environments will be prioritized.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in energy or technology, ideally 2+ years of investing experience
  • MBA or Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering or a related field
  • Passion for emerging megatrends in climate, energy and the digitization of critical industries
  • Strong track record of investment origination and sourcing
  • Expertise in financial modeling, including investment underwriting, bottoms-up operating model builds, cash flow analysis, scenario and sensitivity analysis, liquidation waterfall modeling, etc.
  • Exceptional written and communication skills; good organizational skills with the ability to multi-task (i.e. simultaneously execute multiple transactions in addition to portfolio work)

Responsibilities

  • Source potential investment opportunities aligned with the Ventures strategy
  • Create and own investment deep dives and theses within Energize Capital’s focus areas
  • Conduct in-depth market research, industry analysis, and due diligence on investments
  • Develop and review financial models, perform valuation analyses, and assess investment risks
  • Support the execution of investment transactions, including deal structuring
  • Monitor portfolio company performance and support value creation initiatives
  • Represent Energize as a Board Observer
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Edge and Operations
  • Manage an active travel schedule (20 - 30%) in support of sourcing, diligence, and portfolio engagement
