We seek a highly motivated candidate to join the Bioassay team within Mammalian Analytical Development. The Senior Associate Scientist will work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment developing, qualifying, and validating cell-based analytical methods to support release and characterization testing of biologics therapeutics and support GMP-compliant release and stability testing of clinical supplies. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields with lab-based independent research/thesis Project OR Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Cell Biology Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
  • Technical background in cell culture (mammalian preferred).
  • Experience in plate-based bioassays.
  • Self-motivated with attention to detail and excellent organization, time-management and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as member of a team.
  • Flexibility and willingness to expand skill set and responsibilities.
  • Ability to learn quickly, multitask and excel in a past-faced, highly cooperative team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in bioanalytical assay qualifications, SOP authoring, and working in a GMP or QC environment.
  • Experience in cloning and cell line engineering

Responsibilities

  • Support routine cell culture activities such as thawing, passaging and banking cells.
  • Engineer reporter gene cell lines with which to evaluate the relative potency and mechanism of action for biologics, by cloning or obtaining the appropriate vectors, transducing cells and isolating monoclonal populations.
  • Independently design experiments in order to develop cell-based potency methods for early and late phase projects.
  • Manage work assignments, analyze and interpret test results, and conduct necessary troubleshooting under the supervision of the manager.
  • Support sample testing for drug substance/drug product in potency assays, utilizing molecular and cell readouts such as PCR, spectrophotometer and luminometer.
  • Maintain good documentation practices using the electronic lab notebook system.
  • Maintain GMP compliance by following GMP procedures in the laboratory, by supporting routine maintenance activities in the department, and by training on and drafting appropriate SOPs.
  • Support the training of additional operators and the establishment of new methods and processes as needed.
  • Present work internally at small group and departmental meetings, at larger internal conferences and externally at industry conferences.
