About The Position

New York Life is hiring a Product Owner (PO) role to join the Core Modernization program for Policy Administration for Life Insurance (PALI). The Core Modernization effort is installing a new Policy Administration system. PALI is a multi-year effort to migrate all newly written agent business to the new platform. The program is an enabler for future growth and our ability to reduce friction in the service of our agents and clients.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in providing business analysis in individual life, annuity, and health or property and casualty insurance, financial services, technology delivery, or other related fields.
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
• 3+ years' experience in scaled Agile delivery preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and prioritize the team backlog, which includes user stories, defects, and enablers.
• Participate in Program Increment (PI) planning sessions and refine epics prior to the PI.
• Advise the scrum team of priorities and business capability.
• Participate in various agile team events, such as daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and demos.
• Refine larger initiatives and ensure user stories are built with clear user value and thorough acceptance criteria.
• Conduct user acceptance tests, accept work, and confirm team delivers the expected outcomes/value.
• Demo accepted stories to the full program each sprint.
• Keep pulse on the customers, anticipate bottlenecks, make tradeoffs, and take acceptable risks.
• Establish and maintain relationships outside the Core Modernization team, especially with shared service teams.
• Manage dependencies with other teams and POs.
• Engage with various stakeholders to seek clarity and validate business requirements/acceptance criteria.
• Mentor technical scrum teams and enforce architectural standards.
• Represent the core modernization admin system in cross-functional efforts to map, standardize, and integrate data across systems.
