As the Senior Associate, Packaging Engineer at SC Johnson, you will play a pivotal role in the technical development of new or revised packaging materials and products. This position involves qualifying new products and packages, managing line extensions, and leading various technical tasks that align with the business needs driven by organizational and market requirements. You will be an integral part of cross-functional teams, providing your technical expertise to ensure that key project objectives are met, applicable, and robust. Your responsibilities will include leading the packaging development for commercialization projects specifically within the North America Region. You will focus on growth, business continuity, sustainability, and cost-saving initiatives, adhering to established technical processes and procedures. It is essential to ensure that all technical deliverables are completed accurately and on time. You will also be tasked with developing packaging solutions that meet both internal and external customer needs, and you will support global Research, Development, and Engineering (RD&E) for complex projects related to primary pack development and qualification, localizing and adapting these packs according to North American requirements. In this role, you will collaborate closely with project managers and cross-functional teams to establish project timelines, deliver key milestones, and actively participate in project meetings. You will develop new secondary packaging components and conduct lab tests, including product performance and distribution/warehousing tests for both primary and secondary packaging components. Additionally, you will generate comprehensive packaging component specifications, finished good product specifications, bills of materials, and pallet factors. Drafting qualification plans for new packaging components, equipment modifications, and site moves will also be part of your responsibilities. You will plan and perform line trials at both internal and external manufacturing sites, driving technical discussions and presenting on technical attributes during Regional Technical Reviews. Your role will also involve providing technical expertise and problem-solving skills to evaluate and resolve package-related issues, ensuring production schedules and product quality are maintained. Furthermore, you will support risk identification and mitigation plans to achieve project objectives.
