About The Position

Overview: Responsible for directing and maneuvering railcars safely within industrial railyard. Ensures efficient rail movements, loading/unloading coordination, and adherence to safety protocols.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Knowledge of rail operations and FRA safety standards
• Physical fitness for outdoor, hands-on work
• Detail-oriented with strong situational awareness
• Clear communication and ability to follow instructions
• Decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with PPE and working near heavy equipment

Responsibilities

• Operate switches and signals to control railcar movements
• Operate locomotive
• Couple/uncouple railcars manually or with tools
• Perform billing of railcars before shipment via SAP
• Communicate with switching team, loading team and, logistics team.
• Inspect railcars and tracks for defects or hazards
• Perform routine maintenance on locomotives.
• Perform weekly, monthly safety checklists and equipment inspections
• Direct train positioning via hand signals or radio
• Maintain a clean and safe work area
• Perform switching within federal guidelines
