Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related mechanical experience.
• Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related mechanical experience.
• In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related mechanical experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with solid modeling programs such as Unigraphics NX, Pro-Engineer, AutoCAD Inventor, CATIA, CREO or Solid Works preferred.
• Fabrication experience is a plus.
• Composite Wind tool design and/or fabrication experience is a plus.
• Compression Mold tool design and/or fabrication experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, layout, testing and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems.
• Prepare design specifications, analysis and recommendations for presentation and approval.
• Analyze mechanical requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
• Work with manual and semi-automated tooling such as jigs, fixtures, molds, mandrels, and lifting devices in the fabrication and assembly of solid fuel rocket motors.
• Communicate with contacts inside and outside own team to explain and interpret operational processes, practices, and procedures.
• Identify and address changes within own job area.
• Achieve operational targets with some impact on departmental results.
• Conduct design reviews with cross functional teams to obtain approval of tool designs.
• Oversee procurement/fabrication of tooling.
• Work with manufacturing engineers to perform functional evaluations and acceptance of tooling design.
