About The Position

Blue J is a leading generative AI solution for tax professionals, providing fast, accurate, and defensible answers to complex tax questions. As a B2B SaaS company, Blue J has consistently exceeded revenue targets and is accelerating growth, supported by a recent $122M USD Series D funding. The company is seeking a Senior Associate/Manager (Tax Research) to scale its tax expertise and contribute to the development of its AI-powered tax research tool. This role offers an opportunity to gain invaluable experience in AI and tax, working with a passionate, driven, and friendly team. The ideal candidate is a Tax Lawyer or Tax Accountant with 4-7 years of experience in U.S. Federal Tax, well-versed in its fundamentals, and with an area of expertise within federal tax. While AI experience is not required, a passion for tax and how technology can enhance its transparency and accessibility is key. This is a remote-first position open to candidates legally eligible to work in the United States, with quarterly travel opportunities to the Toronto office for in-person collaboration.

Requirements

A JD or a CPA designation
4-7 years of professional experience working in US federal income tax
Passion for using technology to improve the tax profession and being part of that change
An open mind and eagerness to learn

Responsibilities

Use your excellent tax research skills and tax knowledge to quickly locate relevant primary and secondary sources.
Understand and summarize tax law questions in multiple areas of tax.
Evaluate sources for accuracy and currency.
Efficiently assess source documents to support your analysis.
Adapt quickly to researching different areas of tax law.
Assess the quality and accuracy of AI-generated tax analysis.
Collaborate with tax lawyers, accountants, and a cross-functional team of developers and data scientists to build and improve our AI tools.
Develop strong relationships across the tax research, data science, and technology teams.
Think strategically and critically about how to continuously improve the Blue J products.
Attend to customer feedback, troubleshoot, and incorporate their recommendations to consistently and reliably add value to our tax platforms.
