About The Position

Invariant, a bipartisan government relations and communications firm providing strategic advice to companies, trade associations, non-profits, and individuals, seeks a Senior Associate, Government Relations and Operations to join our team. You’ll work directly with team members to gain valuable insights into the policymaking process and develop your network on the Hill and with Washington stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years of experience on Capitol Hill and/or relevant government affairs organizations.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the federal legislative process, federal agencies, and relevant third parties and associations.
  • Strong researcher and writer with the ability to interpret Washington for a variety of audiences and spot trends to see around corners.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines with a focus on detail and precision.
  • Comfortable and adaptive when working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Solid communication skills and ability to manage both up and down.
  • Goal-oriented team player focused on adding value, deepening knowledge, and increasing efficiencies.
  • Proactive and creative.
  • Fun, outgoing person with a good sense of humor.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a liaison, facilitating communication and collaboration between SVP and other senior leaders, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and prepare briefing materials to support decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with practice groups to research and draft policy updates, issue papers, one-pagers, and other client-facing materials.
  • Review and edit written materials and presentations for accuracy, clarity, and consistency with Invariant’s standards.
  • Manage strategic scheduling for the Senior Vice President, including logistics for new business meetings, ensuring stakeholders are informed and well-prepared.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings for clients with policymakers, external stakeholders, and other key individuals.
  • Draft emails, memos, and other communications on behalf of the SVP.
  • Attend meetings with SVPs, providing logistical support, taking notes, and coordinating follow-up actions.
  • Serve as a project manager, tracking action items and ensure their timely completion, including new business opportunities to expand the organization’s client base.
  • Capture and highlight client success stories to showcase the impact of government relations efforts.
  • Coordinate and assist with planning external engagement events to market the firm.
