About The Position

The Senior Associate role will play a key role in supporting the underwriting, execution, and ongoing management of investment-grade and high-yield infrastructure debt transactions. Barings’ Infrastructure Debt platform has deployed approximately $25 billion across 500 transactions since 2014, averaging $2 billion annually. Investments are executed through separately managed accounts, commingled funds, and CLOs. The platform is supported by a global team of 20+ dedicated investment professionals, providing deep sector expertise and local market insights. This position is located in the New York City office and reports to a Managing Director within the group.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience preferably in infrastructure finance, investment banking, private equity, consulting, or similar.
  • Strong corporate finance and credit analysis capabilities, including advanced financial modeling skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts clearly.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast‑paced, transaction‑driven environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively as part of a global team.
  • Willingness to travel for due diligence, management meetings, and relationship development.

Responsibilities

  • Support detailed due diligence on new investment opportunities, including financial modeling and risk assessment.
  • Prepare investment committee memorandums and supporting materials.
  • Assist in structuring and negotiating transaction terms in collaboration with senior team members.
  • Support origination efforts across the group’s investment strategies by analyzing market trends, identifying potential borrowers, and maintaining industry relationships.
  • Participate in meetings with sponsors, arrangers, and advisors to source new opportunities.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of existing investments, including reviewing financial statements, covenant compliance, and market developments.
  • Maintain relationships with existing borrowers and counterparties to ensure proactive risk management.
  • Collaborate with senior professionals on client management, reporting and fundraising activities.
  • Contribute to internal projects aimed at improving processes, analytics, and reporting capabilities.
