About The Position

The Senior Associate at Georgetown University Law Center will play a crucial role in advancing clean energy and climate mitigation efforts through the Georgetown Climate Center's Mitigation Program. This position focuses on facilitating the clean energy transition at various governmental levels and involves extensive collaboration with policymakers, stakeholders, and external partners. The Senior Associate will lead research and analysis projects, mentor junior staff, and represent the Center in various forums, all while maintaining a strong understanding of current developments in energy law and policy.

Requirements

• Master's Degree or a J.D. (or equivalent work experience)
• A minimum of three years of experience in energy law and policy or a related field
• Excellent research and communication skills (writing and speaking)
• Experience working with or for state, tribal, local, or federal governments
• Experience managing complex projects with multiple partners
• Experience with engagement with communities concerned about energy and climate issues.

Responsibilities

• Work with government policymakers, Center staff and faculty advisors, external partners, and consultants to identify and advance opportunities for rapid, cost-effective, and equitable decarbonization.
• Lead projects involving policy and legal research, analysis, and writing on clean energy and climate mitigation topics.
• Build relationships of trust with policymakers, partners, and stakeholders, representing the Center at conferences and events.
• Conduct briefings for and facilitate discussions among senior government officials, funders, NGO and academic partners, and private sector partners.
• Provide mentorship and/or oversight for junior staff, university research assistants, and external partners.
• Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert, maintaining fluency with recent news and policy developments.
