To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What You’ll Be Doing: The Events and Sponsorship Associate will be a key contributor for planning, coordination, and execution of external and internal events for CIBC Capital Markets in the US. This includes client-facing events, industry and charitable sponsorships, internal events, and community programs. You’ll work closely with senior team members to ensure smooth execution of events and alignment with business goals, while also helping to manage logistics, budgets, communications, and internal coordination. Additionally, the role will manage client entertainment ticket allocation for US-based venues. Client Events and Industry Sponsorships – You will apply a comprehensive, conceptual, and practical understanding of the organization in order to lead and provide support on events, conferences, and sponsorships. You will address a wide range of business and technical situations, from problem identification to measuring the effectiveness of implemented solutions. You will handle show coordination, set-up, vendor relationships, hotel accommodations, travel schedules, food and beverage orders, etc. You will research and make recommendations, negotiate contracts, maintain budgets, and manage financial reconciliation. You will provide on-site support at NY-based events and will be required to travel occasionally to support events and industry conference sponsorships. You will work in conjunction with our US Events team, US Business Management team, and Client Strategy team (in Canada), adhering to all CIBC standards. Internal Events & Community Programs – You will manage logistics for internal events, including employee engagement initiatives, People Network programs, and All-Team meetings. You will work closely with internal A/V and Facilities teams, building Security, and external vendors to create seamless experiences for the employees of CIBC. You will assist on charitable sponsorships and partnership events and coordinate volunteer opportunities, as needed. Ticket Management – You will be responsible for management of full-season sports and entertainment tickets for US-based venues, as well as research and procurement of tickets and hospitality for individual inquiries. You will maintain a centralized view of ticket availability, oversee requests and allocations, distribute tickets, and coordinate catering orders. You will handle post-event reconciliation of event attendees, reporting, and any financial adjustments. Relationship Building – You will build relationships and work with key senior internal stakeholders to centralize event activities and ensure all events are delivered with consistency and in a timely, effective, and cost-efficient manner. Project Management – You will lead and support on multiple concurrent projects, on time and on budget, to the team’s satisfaction. You will coordinate with external vendors as required to execute events and programs within scope and with consistency. You will provide input on operational components for office hospitality and efficient event hosting. Administration – You will manage and maintain external client-facing data and follow currently procedures to have data updated regularly in order to provide weekly updates on events and sponsorships for established senior-level reporting and briefing. You will be required to regularly manage event communication, RSVP tracking, expenses, and invoice submission on a timely basis. You will assist with tracking ROI for client entertainment and events, as well as scheduling for US-based podcast recording when needed.   • Experience. 5-7 years of experience in events/sponsorships in the Financial Services or related industries with college degree.
  • Skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to quickly deliver key messages to senior-level executives.

Responsibilities

  • This role has an expected salary range of $115,000 - $135,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position.
  • The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
