Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
  • Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6 years of prior related experience.
  • Requires practical knowledge of Materials and Process Engineering lab or similar background.
  • Competency in MS Office Suite and proficiency in documenting procedures.

  • Highly skilled at cross-sectioning and polishing.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and test polymers, adhesives, composite, and metals used in Aerospace and Defense programs.
  • Analyze the physical, chemical, mechanical, and thermal properties of materials.
  • Perform destructive and non-destructive techniques to test material properties with analytical methods.
  • Interface with internal customers to assist in the evaluation and application of numerous materials and processes.
  • Work in a hands-on laboratory environment involving hazardous chemicals and conditions.
  • Generate reports of completed work for program/quality/design teams, management, and L3Harris customers.
  • Receive and analyze materials following all detailed instructions and procedures supplied.
  • Make observations and interpret findings.
  • Design and execute laboratory testing according to in-house procedures, Quality processes, and industry standards such as ASTM, ICP, and ISO.
  • Work with technicians and engineers to supply programs with accurate results and recommendations.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot equipment and assist in ordering supplies.
  • Follow all safety guidelines.
