About the position

The Senior Associate Director, Analytics and Data Science, leads the Analytics and Data Science teams in delivering insights that drive Chicago Booth's fundraising and alumni engagement strategies. This role manages team performance, prioritizes projects, and supports staff development in coordination with the Director of Analytics and Business Intelligence. The Senior Associate Director also leads staff database training, supports adoption of reporting tools, and ensures alignment with data governance standards through collaboration with Advancement teams and University partners. The Senior Associate Director oversees the development of data products, dashboards, and reports for a wide range of stakeholders, including senior leadership, while maintaining best practices in data delivery and documentation. This position ensures effective internal communication around technology and data changes, promotes cross-campus data collaboration, and identifies opportunities to improve data processes. A strong commitment to data quality, user support, and innovation is essential to the role's success.

Responsibilities

  • Provides program leadership for the Analytics and Data Science teams including coaching of team members, and initiation and execution of projects and processes.
  • Supervises, manages, and mentors a team of three full-time staff, strategically identifying daily tasks, projects, and professional development in collaboration with the Director, Analytics and Business Intelligence.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Advancement Operations teams, program managers, frontline staff, and senior leaders to implement applicable data delivery strategies.
  • Serves as the lead for staff database training, including the creation of training materials and programs.
  • Works with Data Integrity to develop new data governance protocol and improve existing guidelines to enable enhanced reporting opportunities.
  • Supports and develops data products that support Booth Advancement's fundraising and alumni engagement goals and strategies, including interactive data products, process documentation, reports, and presentations for senior leadership.
  • Stays current on industry trends and practices through associations, professional colleagues, and other sources.
  • Serves as a resource to departments across Chicago Booth, including Admissions, Executive Education, and Research Centers, on matters involving data access and information sharing.
  • Liaise with other senior managers and project leaders in Alumni Relations and Development on technology, reporting, and data delivery initiatives.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve business processes and propose solutions that advance the mission of the department.
  • Ensures compliance with University data governance policies across all tasks and projects.
  • Has a deep understanding of prospect research, prospect management, strategic planning and market research on donors prospects.
  • Provides guidance to research analysts, train staff members on fundraising, report writing, and research.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.
  • Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum five years of experience in a fundraising or non-profit environment, with at least five years of experience analyzing and synthesizing data to produce clear, actionable reports and presentations.
  • Previous management experience, including direct supervision of staff.
  • At least two years of management experience.
  • Proficient with fundraising databases such as Salesforce.
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, including the University's alumni database.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows computer environment, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Proficiency with Tableau or similar data visualization software.
  • Knowledge of SAP Business Objects or Structured Query Language.
  • Awareness and interest in emerging techniques in machine learning and Big Data.
