Capital One is seeking a Senior Associate to join the Controllers Accounting Department supporting the Credit Accounting function. This role requires a combination of accounting expertise and financial analysis. Primary responsibilities for this position include accounting and reporting for rewards liability and quarterly reporting for loans considered Financial Difficulty Modifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree or military experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in accounting, external financial reporting, audit, finance or a combination
  • At least 3 years of experience with Google Office, Microsoft Office products or a combination

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license
  • Strong track record of building relationships within accounting groups and other areas of an organization
  • Experience with Accounting Systems such as Peoplesoft, SAP or Oracle Financials
  • Experience with reporting systems such as Onestream, Tableau, Google Data Studio
  • Ability to stay knowledgeable about research and reach well-reasoned conclusions on financial reporting and disclosure issues
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)

Responsibilities

  • Recording monthly journal entries and preparing monthly account reconciliations
  • Executing SOX controls within the rewards liability process and FDM reporting
  • Preparing quarterly FDM disclosures for both SEC and Regulatory reporting, including analysis of activity, delinquency and subsequent default data
  • Evaluating new FDM programs for appropriate classification in accordance with ASU 2022-02
  • Executing rewards liability processes to ensure complete and accurate internal management and external SEC financial reporting
  • Consolidating and communicating rewards liability and expense results to stakeholders on a monthly basis
  • Creating dynamic credit analytics and presenting process results clearly and concisely for executive leadership
  • Leveraging new and existing technologies to enhance reporting and analytics
  • Building relationships with lines of business and upstream/downstream impacted teams to understand their processes and results
  • Leading process improvement initiatives and projects to reduce risk
  • Supporting compliance activities for management, internal audit and external audit groups by providing documentation and addressing queries
  • Preparing ad hoc analysis on rewards metrics for executive leadership
  • Supporting activities conducted throughout the enterprise on behalf of Credit Accounting
