About The Position

Partner with the Superintendent to direct and coordinate golf course maintenance activities such as maintaining quality course condition quality; selecting, developing, and retaining employees; and exceeding guest expectations. This role collaborates with the Golf Course Superintendent to oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations, ensuring cost control and efficient utilization of resources. The Senior Assistant Superintendent provides advice and coordination with the Golf Course Superintendent on any issues related to golf course maintenance, and actively participates in the construction and maintenance of the grounds. The position also involves administering and enforcing rules, regulations, and policies for staff members, and assisting in recruitment, hiring, and training of staff.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in golf course maintenance or a related field.
  • Solid knowledge of turfgrass management principles, including irrigation, fertilization, and pest control.
  • Experience operating and maintaining golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and train staff effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree or certification in turfgrass management or a related field is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Golf Course Superintendent to oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomic operations, ensuring cost control and efficient utilization of resources.
  • Provides advice and coordination with the Golf Course Superintendent on any issues related to golf course maintenance.
  • Direct and actively participate in the construction and maintenance of the grounds, ensuring they are well-maintained and visually appealing.
  • Administer and enforce rules, regulations, and policies for staff members, including members and guests, to ensure a harmonious and professional environment.
  • Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to maintain fiscal responsibility and professionalism in all maintenance operations.
  • Assist in the recruitment, hiring, and training of staff members, while maintaining accurate training and performance records.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of irrigation systems, overseeing repairs and irrigation duties to maintain course standards.
  • Oversee and perform general maintenance tasks such as mowing, raking, blowing, mulching, sod work, aerification, and course set-up.
  • Assist in special projects and undertake any additional duties as assigned by management.
