Requirements

  • Experience building complex electro-mechanical and/or opto-mechanical assemblies
  • Demonstrated ability to identify process improvements and recognize defects or material deficiencies
  • Proven troubleshooting skills for moderately complex issues, with the ability to recommend effective solutions
  • Ability to support, guide, and assist less experienced operators
  • 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing assembly role
  • Strong manual dexterity and excellent hand–eye coordination
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods (up to 2 hours at a time)
  • Ability to routinely bend, reach, stoop, push, and pull
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Independently build optical and mechanical precision sub-assemblies using hand tools, fixtures, and specialized equipment
  • Train and mentor assemblers on assembly techniques and processing requirements
  • Partner with Engineering to build prototype and pilot products
  • Collaborate with Engineering to identify and implement process improvements
  • Redline bills of materials and process documentation to support controlled document updates
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and repair returned or nonconforming assemblies
  • Use precision measuring devices and equipment to ensure proper form, fit, and function
  • Perform in-process quality inspections on components and assemblies
  • Collect, kit, and maintain materials required for sub-assemblies
  • Execute standard assembly tasks, including component installation, electrical wiring, hand soldering, cable harnessing, plumbing, bonding, cleaning, labeling, and packaging
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment in accordance with procedures, protocols, and industry regulations
