As a Senior Area Manager you will lead a team of 60-100 Associates, including 2-4 Operations Leads, for inbound, outbound, automation or another business area. Your role is to collaborate and influence your peers to meet production goals and keep workflow humming for your shift. You have demonstrated success managing through Leads to train, grow, and develop Associates on your team. You proactively lead cross-functionally utilizing data and relationships to set your team and the business up for success.

  • Own your team’s performance and set them up for success by collaborating with and influencing peers on workflow, coaching and developing Associates, and proactively communicating in all directions.
  • Proactively utilize reporting tools to analyze metrics and plan on a weekly basis and beyond to improve distribution center performance, mentoring and coaching peers and Leads to make data-driven decisions.
  • Demonstrated success communicating, engaging, and recognizing the team, and creating strong personal connections and relationships in all directions.
  • Proactively innovate and generate solutions to improve productivity, retention, training and development through collaborations with your team, peers, and leadership.
  • Manage the day-to-day needs of the team including vacation requests, scheduling, timecards, attendance, etc.
  • Role model giving and receiving timely, constructive, and respectful feedback with team members, peers, and leadership.
  • Deep involvement in the recruiting, onboarding, development, and retention of Associates.
  • Coach others to be ambassadors of thredUP values (DOTS) and culture in all interactions.
  • Creates a safe work environment for team members and teaches others how to operate safely.
  • Experienced distribution center leader with a proven track record of driving results and developing a team of top performers.
  • Experienced collaborator who consistently connects with peers, leaders, and other team members cross-functionally in order to establish an environment of trust, inclusion, and respect.
  • Demonstrated success training, mentoring, coaching and developing Associates and Leads.
  • Self-directed leader who demonstrates strong decision-making skills balancing needs of the team and the business.
  • Consistently utilizes reporting tools to analyze metrics and take action, as well as coach team members.
  • Deep thredUP operational knowledge or relevant external operational experience.
  • Ability to stand or walk for an entire shift (8-10 hours per day) as well as bend down, reach overhead, lift/carry up to 30lbs and push/pull wheeled clothing racks weighing up to 150lbs.
