About the position

The purpose of this position is to manage and lead a staff responsible for medium to large sized aviation projects. This position will serve as the Senior Design Manager for Facility Projects on airport property to include managing all design efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all efforts associated with initiating, coordinating, managing, and accomplishing the design for all assigned projects.
  • Ensure compliance with Airport Design Standards, Code Compliance, Sustainability Requirements and provide Construction Phasing and Implementation.
  • Conduct architectural design reviews.
  • Manage all facets of project management (budget, schedule, procurement, quality & risk) for projects.
  • Demonstrate capability to read, understand and apply standard to complex documents affecting design projects.
  • Interface directly with clients to define project requirements.
  • Develop Design Task Orders based on approved scope.
  • Gather design team proposals, review for compliance with Task Order, review cost proposals and man-hour projections.
  • Lead project delivery resources/team providing project guidance and direction to achieve project goals.
  • Manage Submittal and Review Process including Program Validation, Basis of Design, Design Documents.
  • Implement communication plan for meetings and written reports/meeting minutes.
  • Implement project documentation governance aligned with company and client requirements.
  • Track progress of each project against goals, objectives, approved budgets, approved timelines.
  • Implement change management routines to assess change requests, make recommendations, secure client approvals, and issue change orders.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of projects & project management within the context of business results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture (BArch) from an accredited College or University.
  • Minimum of eight years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret the most complex business documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive issues.
  • Ability to write reports, manuals, speeches and articles using distinctive style.
  • Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on complex topics.
  • Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles.
  • Ability to calculate complex figures and prepare budgets.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural drawings.
  • Knowledge in MS Project, contracts, and construction practices.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience on airport projects preferred.
  • Registered Architect (a plus, but not required).
