Our Forensic practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues. The Role We have an immediate opportunity for a Forensic Architect with an interest in forensic investigation, litigation support, and design of architectural repairs and retrofits. In this role you'll work on architectural investigations of existing buildings and to identify and possibly design remedial repairs for deficient conditions. The investigations include an assessment of building code deficiencies and building envelope defects and cause and origin analysis.

Requirements

  • Degree in Architecture (B.Arch /M.Arch) or Architectural Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Professional architectural license preferred but not required.
  • Candidates should have initiated a path toward licensure (e.g., completion of a NAAB-accredited degree and active progress toward AXP and/or licensure exams, or equivalent).
  • 2-5 years of architectural experience.
  • Proficiency in standard office and documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft 365).
  • Comfort working on litigation-driven and schedule-sensitive assignments.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within the U.S. and internationally for site inspections, meetings, and proceedings as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CAD/BIM/3D modelling software is welcome but not required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with assessments of the building envelope, fire-rated construction, and other architectural elements; and cause and origin investigations.
  • Analysis of building codes and various industry standards.
  • Memorialize findings in written communication, including reports.
  • Communicate with clients to understand project requirements and communicate findings.
  • Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and prepare materials related to presentations.
  • Manage and mentor other design team members.
  • Perform peer reviews of architectural design and condition assessments, including order of magnitude cost estimating.
