Microsoft’s Enterprise customers need tools to build agentic experiences over public and private knowledge. The Azure AI Knowledge team is developing Foundry IQ Knowledge bases to integrate structured and unstructured enterprise data into knowledge. The team continuously deploys new capabilities for complex queries requiring reasoning and reflection to deliver high-quality results across various industries, corpus sizes, and scenarios. This work involves developing LLM prompts, agents, and query execution workflows with tight latency constraints, collecting, generating, and filtering training and evaluation data, building on state-of-the-art techniques, and using AI coding patterns for experimentation. The team's progression includes advancements from better search to RAG and agentic retrieval, as demonstrated by improved relevance for complex queries. The team comprises diverse engineers, scientists, and program managers, collaborating with M365, Bing, and Microsoft Research. A key aspect of this role is to advance knowledge retrieval by leveraging multiple coding agents (e.g., autoresearch, claws, CLI systems) to explore new techniques and bring them to production at scale.
