We are looking for a Senior Applied Scientist - Health and Life Sciences to join our Dragon ASR team. In this role, you will collaborate with a highly motivated, multi-disciplinary group of scientists and engineers, primarily based in Vienna, Austria. Our team develops interactive and ambient speech recognition technologies powering Health and Life Sciences products such as Dragon Medical One, Dragon Copilot, and PowerScribe One.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research) OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) OR equivalent experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Nice To Haves

• 5+ years of software development experience in production environments in C++ and Python
• Experience working with machine learning models in areas such as speech recognition, natural language processing, generative AI
• Proficient communication skills
• Experience with speech recognition algorithms (speech-to-text)
• Experience with the Azure ecosystem
• Experience with large-scale data processing and analytics

Responsibilities

• Bring new technology and approaches into production by applying long-term research efforts to solve immediate product needs
• Design, implement, optimize and experimentally evaluate features related to speech recognition and voice-driven document creation
• Analyze field data, identify problems and provide strategic direction for future-proof solutions
• Implement and enhance tools, learning algorithms and prototypes to advance speech technology capabilities
• Work closely with speech recognition experts, product managers, and engineering teams, and effectively communicate results and ideas to peers and leadership
