About The Position

GDC is currently seeking a Senior Application Software Developer to support accessibility compliance initiatives and provide ongoing maintenance and enhancement of existing systems. This role offers a collaborative team environment while also requiring the ability to work independently on assigned deliverables. As a Senior Application Software Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining complex web-based applications with a strong emphasis on accessibility compliance, technical leadership, and adherence to established development standards. You will work closely with project stakeholders, developers, and database administrators to deliver high-quality, user-centered solutions.

Requirements

Senior-level experience designing and developing complex web-based software applications.
Strong experience with HTML and CSS with a focus on accessibility compliance.
Proficiency in VB.Net, ASP.Net, JavaScript, XML, and SQL Server.
Experience designing multi-tier applications including UI, business, and database layers.
Hands-on experience with SQL Server Reporting Services.
Experience using Visual Studio for application development.
Experience using Azure DevOps for source control, work management, and testing.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a development team.
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
Experience leading development efforts or mentoring junior developers.
Experience supporting accessibility remediation or compliance initiatives.
Experience working within government or public-sector IT environments.
Experience assisting with data migration projects.
Familiarity with formal coding standards and enterprise development governance.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of complex web-based software applications.
Analyze and interpret user requirements in collaboration with project teams and propose effective technical solutions.
Design and develop user interface, business layer, database layer, and reporting components to meet functional requirements.
Ensure accessibility functionality and compliance through proper use of HTML and style sheets.
Program applications using Microsoft VB.Net, ASP.Net, JavaScript, XML, SQL Server Reporting Services, and SQL Server.
Propose database designs and collaborate with database administrators for approval and implementation.
Assist with data migration from legacy or existing databases.
Utilize Visual Studio as the primary development environment.
Follow established coding standards, database standards, and best practices.
Use Azure DevOps for source code control, work item tracking, testing activities, and documentation versioning.
Estimate development effort and timelines to support project planning.
Report development status, risks, and progress to the project manager.
Perform unit and regression testing and resolve identified defects.
Present complex technical concepts to non-technical users in a clear and understandable manner.
Document solutions, mentor team members, and provide knowledge transfer to IT staff as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
