Requirements

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline.
  • Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Certification is required in some areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural Engineering.
  • EIT certification or ability to obtain within 2 years.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • Three (3) years under a registered Professional Engineer.
  • 2+ years of experience in formwork and shoring design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit and 3D modeling experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA and building code requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for engineering design and review of concrete formwork and shoring layouts, including custom elements tailored to complex project requirements.
  • Support both pre-construction and active project phases, ensuring technical excellence and field feasibility.
  • Develops detailed formwork and shoring drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Performs structural calculations to validate load capacities and ensure safety.
  • Prepares bills of material and reviews peer designs for accuracy and optimization.
  • Applies civil engineering principles to plan and lay out formwork and shoring systems based on inventory, schedule, cost, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborates with construction teams to ensure effective implementation of designs.
  • Provides technical input to sales and operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Attends customer meetings during and after the sales process to support technical discussions and design alignment.
  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.
  • Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
  • Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results.
  • Determines and develops an approach to solutions.
  • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc.
  • Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.
