About The Position

The Aerospace Corporation is a trusted partner to the nation’s space programs, solving complex problems and providing unmatched technical expertise. As the operator of a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC), it is broadly engaged across all aspects of space, delivering innovative solutions for satellite, launch, ground, and cyber systems for defense, civil, and commercial customers. The Mission Payloads Division (MPD) is focused on remote sensing systems that guide the country’s space enterprise, with expertise in electronics, sensors, radar, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced data network domains. MPD advances technology through research and development, demonstration, and integration, delivering groundbreaking results through innovative laboratories and prototyping. The Antenna Systems Department, where this role is located, is engaged in both modeling & simulation along with prototyping & testbed development. The work includes CubeSat antenna systems, ground station support, antenna design & modeling, construction of prototypes, and pattern measurements in anechoic chambers, as well as helping government customers execute and define future missions. The department collaborates closely with other departments to develop software defined radio (SDR) communication systems (transmitter & receivers) and RF systems. The selected candidate will be required to work full time on-site at the facility in El Segundo, CA.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited program in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline
  • Twelve or more years of related experience in Antenna/RF System design, analysis and testing
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
  • Proficiency with a variety of analysis tools such as ADS, Microwave Office, HFSS, Feko, CST, and GRASP
  • Experience supporting DoD/IC programs and payloads
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 10% of the time

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in anechoic chamber setup, validation and pattern measurement
  • Proficiency in phased array design and measurement
  • Demonstrated experience leading development projects and mentoring junior staff
  • Proven ability to architect and implement antenna and RF and antenna system solutions with real-world performance requirements
  • Experience with ground stations
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance

  • Join the Antenna Systems Department as an experienced engineer who works both independently and as a member of project teams
  • Provide subject matter expertise in RF systems, antennas, and receive and transmit systems
  • Solve technical problems in the areas of communications, signals collection, and remote sensing
  • Engage the customer with impact on the problems to be solved and lead project teams
  • Use your technical abilities and insights to foster innovation and keep ongoing development programs successful and also influencing future missions
