As the operator of a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC), it is broadly engaged across all aspects of space, delivering innovative solutions for satellite, launch, ground, and cyber systems for defense, civil, and commercial customers. The Mission Payloads Division (MPD) is focused on remote sensing systems that guide the country’s space enterprise, with expertise in electronics, sensors, radar, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced data network domains. MPD advances technology through research and development, demonstration, and integration, delivering groundbreaking results through innovative laboratories and prototyping. The Antenna Systems Department, where this role is located, is engaged in both modeling & simulation along with prototyping & testbed development. The work includes CubeSat antenna systems, ground station support, antenna design & modeling, construction of prototypes, and pattern measurements in anechoic chambers, as well as helping government customers execute and define future missions. The department collaborates closely with other departments to develop software defined radio (SDR) communication systems (transmitter & receivers) and RF systems. The selected candidate will be required to work full time on-site at the facility in El Segundo, CA.
