About The Position

As Senior Animal Care Officer, you spend your day enforcing City ordinances and laws regarding animals through the governance of the licensing, responding to emergency calls, and patrolling the city for stray or dangerous animal's impoundment and treatment of animals. You are constantly on your toes and ready for any new and unexpected challenges that may arise in the city. This can include setting up rabies clinics, work with school officials, and coordinate with vets and the public on vaccination programs. When you are not out in the city, you complete schedules, review timesheets, and tracks supply purchases. You enjoy being helpful and have no problem providing assistance and support to other divisions within the department as needed. The city needs someone like you with great people skills in providing excellent customer service to all our customers, and finds genuine enjoyment in what you do!

Requirements

  • High school diploma, G.E.D. or equivalency.
  • Requires a working knowledge of ordinances, codes, policies and procedures which relate to animal care, to perform effectively.
  • Animal Control Officer Certifications
  • Euthanasia Certification
  • Animal Tranquilizer Certification
  • Supervise activity and training of Assistant Animal Control Wardens.
  • Valid Class "C driver's license from the Texas Department of Public Safety with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Community college, vocational business, technical, or correspondence school certificates are likely sources.
  • Previous work experience in related field is preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.
