Remote

About The Position

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you’ll bridge the gap between data engineering and business intelligence—building the models, semantic layers, and self-service tools that make Kin’s data trustworthy and accessible. You’ll focus on the dimensional models of our data lakehouse, transforming curated data into business-ready models and metrics. You’ll also own Looker’s semantic layer (or similar BI platform), designing and maintaining semantic models, explores, and dashboards that empower analysts and decision-makers across the company.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years in analytics engineering, BI engineering, or dimensional modeling roles
  • Advanced SQL knowledge and experience transforming raw data from multiple sources into an enterprise data warehouse
  • Hands-on experience with Looker or a similar BI platform (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Mode) including semantic modeling, explores, and dashboard design
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Snowflake, or Redshift in a lakehouse or warehouse context
  • Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, lakehouses, and ELT best practices
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-facing skills—you can translate business needs into data solutions
  • Passion for data accuracy, consistency, and self-service analytics

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Python, Git-based workflows, or BI admin automation

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain Kin’s Looker semantic layer, including LookML views, explores, and user-friendly dashboards
  • Partner with domain data engineers to standardize definitions, metrics, and calculations while performing data analysis, validation, and exception reporting across business lines
  • Support and administer Looker or similar BI platform (permissions, performance tuning, content lifecycle, QA)
  • Model and maintain dimensional models to support enterprise analytics and reporting
  • Collaborate with Finance, Marketing, and Product to deliver and maintain high-impact reports and KPIs
  • Implement data quality monitoring for trusted business reporting
  • Champion documentation and reusable data patterns for BI development
  • Partner with the broader data platform team to evolve our Lakehouse and data governance practices

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and company equity through Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), granted as part of our standard compensation package and based on role and level
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4% of eligible earnings
  • Multiple medical plan options, plus dental and vision coverage
  • Company-funded HSA contributions (based on medical plan selection)
  • Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability
  • A variety of supplemental benefit options, including long-term disability, critical illness, accident, legal, and pet insurance
  • Access to mental health support and confidential counseling resources
  • Flexible PTO for exempt employees (most employees take 15–20 days per year), plus 8 company-observed holidays
  • Paid parental leave, including up to 14 weeks at 100% pay for birthing parents and 8 weeks at 100% pay for non-birthing parents
  • Career mobility and internal growth opportunities across the organization
  • Professional development budgets for certifications, conferences, and learning available, subject to management approval
