Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related scientific field
  • 10+ years of experience in a regulated testing lab environment (cosmetic, OTC, or pharmaceutical preferred)
  • At least 1 year of experience managing a lab team (3+ years preferred)
  • Strong command of analytical instrumentation and method development (HPLC, GC, ICP, pH, etc.)
  • Experience implementing quality systems and compliance with FDA, GLP, and USP standards
  • Excellent communication skills—able to simplify complex technical issues for varied audiences
  • Direct, solutions-oriented leadership style with a clear sense of ownership and urgency
  • Proven ability to develop systems, delegate effectively, and manage shifting priorities
  • Skilled in documentation, audit preparation, and process improvement
  • ERP experience and strong documentation/reporting proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a dynamic team of QC Analytical Chemists and Microbiologists
  • Set the strategic direction for the QC Laboratory, aligning with internal goals and customer expectations
  • Oversee all laboratory operations related to raw materials, in-process testing, and finished goods
  • Act as the subject matter expert for analytical techniques including HPLC, GC, ICP, wet chemistry, and more
  • Develop, validate, and maintain test methods, quality systems, and compliance procedures
  • Ensure adherence to FDA regulations (21 CFR Parts 210 & 211), GLPs, USP, and environmental safety protocols
  • Implement internal audit programs and create training plans to support continuous improvement
  • Own quality data integrity, ERP system integration, and real-time reporting
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, R&D, Regulatory, and Executive Leadership
  • Manage laboratory budgets, equipment investments, and resource planning
  • Cultivate a culture of quality, accountability, and innovation across the organization
