The Valuation & Investments (V&I) team serves as the center of excellence for financial analysis within AES’ U.S. Renewables business. This Senior Analyst role supports the evaluation of greenfield development and M&A investment opportunities across the U.S., with a specific focus on solar, wind, and energy storage projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for building complex financial models, collaborating cross-functionally, and directly contributing to key investment decisions that shape the renewable energy pipeline. This position offers exposure to diverse markets and capital structures, fostering deep expertise in renewable project finance. The ideal candidate will possess technical excellence, strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for clean energy. The role requires being local or willing to relocate to New York City or Arlington, with a preference for Arlington.

Requirements

  • Exposure to renewable energy finance, including familiarity with U.S. power markets (with a focus on solar, wind, and energy storage).
  • Financial modeling skills, with the ability to manage complex and dynamic financial structures, including debt and tax equity.
  • Good communication and presentation skills—able to clearly explain complex concepts.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a collaborative mindset, curiosity, and a desire to learn.
  • Committed to fostering a collaborative, respectful, and fun team culture.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business, Math, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the valuation of renewable energy projects by building and maintaining robust financial models.
  • Collaborate with teams across the business, including Development, M&A, Engineering, and Commercial to assess investment opportunities and identify key risks and value drivers.
  • Help develop and analyze debt, tax equity, and project equity financing structures.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency of financial metrics presented to senior decision-makers.
  • Partner across teams to develop regional strategies, decision-making tools, and analyses that enhance prioritization and innovation.
  • Participate in continuous improvement of team tools, templates, and processes.
