About The Position

The Senior Analyst of Portfolio Finance is responsible for supporting construction period financing execution and operating period asset optimization transactions for wind, solar, and energy storage assets. This person will support cash equity, tax equity, and/or term conversions during construction, lead advanced financial modeling for several projects in construction and operation, and identify and execute on value optimization opportunities for operating projects. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in project finance, portfolio management, or M&A in the energy sector.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge is required.
  • Experience building, auditing, and/or updating complex project finance models, with the ability to quickly generate summary economics relating to each stakeholder, is required.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting investor financing agreements and project contracts is highly preferred.
  • Understanding of financial, tax, accounting, and investment concepts.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Tax Equity experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting funding and asset optimization opportunities across the entire Clearway enterprise. Efforts will primarily be focused on renewables projects, with the possibility of non-renewables transactions. Types of transactions include but are not limited to cash and tax equity fundings, term conversions, bridge loan payoffs, refinancings, tax equity buyouts, repowering analysis, letter of credit facilities, and other ad-hoc restructurings.
  • Working frequently with lenders, tax equity investors, cash equity investors, consultants, and lawyers as part of the funding processes during construction.
  • Implementing the bringdown assumption updates to financial models, scenario analysis, and adding dynamic logic and formulas to complex financial models. Understanding of how certain assumptions and structures impact economics, such as cash flows, IRRs, flip dates, and inside and outside basis, will be critical.
  • Updating tax equity tracking models regularly to track projected returns, flip dates, and other financial outcomes. Summarizing economic outcomes to draft materials that translate said economics clearly and concisely to senior leaders.
  • Ability to think critically and propose solutions that overcome customary and/or unique challenges that renewables projects face during construction and/or operations. This includes the ability to interpret provisions in financing agreements, operating agreements, and/or purchase agreements to understand the impact of certain matters on the capital structure.
  • Be the “relationship” contact with investors for project financings in construction and operations. Establishing and sustaining productive, efficient relationships across Clearway’s major departments and functions, including Capital Markets, Construction, Asset Management, Energy Management, Origination, Legal, Accounting, and Tax, to address and resolve challenges across the lifecycle of Clearway’s projects.
