About the position

The Senior Analyst, Health Economics and Policy at Altarum Institute will lead and manage multiple projects within the Applied Research and Analytics practice area, focusing on improving health outcomes for disenfranchised populations. This role involves utilizing claims and survey data to assess health service access, evaluate the economic impacts of health investments, and conduct cost-benefit analyses of healthcare policies. The analyst will leverage their expertise in research design, data analysis, and program evaluation to generate insights that inform healthcare solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and leading research projects or tasks using qualitative and quantitative methods.
  • Identifying, acquiring, and analyzing health, health sector, and related economic data from government and other sources.
  • Analyzing survey and claims data (commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid) to answer research questions.
  • Conducting statistical analyses to assess the significance of program and policy impacts.
  • Creating written and oral presentations interpreting data for various audiences.
  • Developing and refining data visualizations to present findings.
  • Interacting closely with clients and being responsive to their needs.
  • Managing and supervising junior staff.
  • Working on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
  • Ensuring deliverables meet project requirements and are executed within budget, scope, and schedule.
  • Managing risks and reporting status and completion of tasks to clients and stakeholders.
  • Supporting business development activities through solution design and technical proposal contributions.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in public health, economics, social science, public policy, or related field.
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of research methods and processes, including literature reviews and quantitative analysis.
  • Experience designing and conducting economic and statistical analyses of healthcare and economic data.
  • Experience analyzing administrative claims data.
  • Technical proficiency in analytical software including Microsoft Excel and one of the following: R, STATA, or SAS.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with analyses in SQL databases.
  • Experience writing and reviewing substantive sections of project proposals.
