About The Position

Manulife Investment Management (“MIM”) is the global wealth and asset management segment of Manulife Financial Corporation. MIM’s real estate platform provides investment solutions globally as part of its comprehensive private markets capabilities. As of December 31, 2025, its sustainably operated platform offers core, core-plus, and value-add strategies spanning over 95 million square feet of office, industrial, retail, multi-family assets strategically across Canada, the United States, and Asia-Pacific. The Global Real Estate team (“GRE”) leverages its global platform and regional market knowledge to identify opportunities and drive results for its investment clients. General Accountability: The Senior Analyst is a member of the GRE Operations team and contributes to the financial analysis and operations of the GRE platform, working alongside other GRE teams, third-party managers, and the MIM Investment Operations team. Responsibilities include review and oversight of the third-party portfolio accounting and reporting deliverables, development and management of the global budgeting and forecasting policies, timeline and deliverables, compliance with relevant SOX controls, and management of ongoing technology automation such as Anaplan, Yardi, and other AI initiatives. The Senior Analyst will also provide financial and operational support for GRE’s strategic initiatives, as required. The role requires a highly capable and accountable finance professional who is motivated to strive for success and be part of a highly engaged team focused on growing an investment management business. The incumbent will need to develop high levels of rapport and respect with key stakeholders. The role will directly report to Director, Global Real Estate Financial Operations and liaise with the key members of the GRE team and other teams within MIM.

Requirements

  • University Degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-6 years of professional experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent accounting or finance professional credential.
  • Strong finance background with 3-6 years of increasing responsibility in financial accounting / reporting and analysis.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and IFRS
  • Experience with financial reporting processes, data and information management, controls, reporting and analysis.
  • Ability to work with complex investment structures and review fund offering / governing documents.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail but have ability to assess complex situation with a big picture mindset.
  • Relevant experience with accounting and financial systems in complex organizations
  • Experience in financial planning and forecasting.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing requirements and priorities.
  • A strong quantitative and analytic approach to building business strategies and establishing measurement systems to monitor growth, efficiency and profitability.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills with the ability to cater the message to various stakeholders including senior executives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across the Division and with external stakeholders; ability to collaborate, negotiate, and influence effectively.

  • Experience in real estate industry and/or investment management industry is strongly preferred but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Portfolio Accounting and Reporting Oversight Actively manage third-party accounting and reporting partners, including: Perform initial review of the portfolio-level accounting and reporting deliverables for reasonability and accuracy. The third-party portfolio accounting manager will be responsible for reviewing property-level financial information and reports. Oversee the monthly tracking and evaluation of third‑party reporting deliverables, reporting on accuracy and timeliness issues and concerns. Follow up with third-party managers on any unresolved exceptions and issues that were flagged by the third-party portfolio accounting manager.
  • Platform Financial Analysis, Planning and Forecasting Contribute to financial analyses and forecasting modeling that provides insightful management reporting for GRE and MIM management. Assist with production of accurate and timely forecasting of revenue, expense, and profitability of the GRE business and its investment products Review revenue share modeling from operating partners to validate performance actuals and forecasts Review investment waterfall modeling to validate investment performance actuals and forecasts Maintain summary reporting schedules for all forecasting assumptions, including management fee rates, leverage assumptions, and operational responsibilities to MIM.
  • Technology Applications and Project Management Embrace technology and support projects that continue to build GRE’s technology infrastructure to facilitate data connectivity and efficiencies. Oversee Anaplan models for existing deliverables and workflows Support the ongoing implementation of Anaplan for additional use cases to benefit the GRE platform. Work with Manulife’s Anaplan Center of Excellence (“COE”) and other internal/external stakeholders to make required updates to Anaplan models. Support the implementation of new Yardi modules Assist in the implementation of other AI capabilities for the GRE platform to streamline workflows and reporting processes.
  • Transactions, Strategic Initiatives and Projects Actively contribute to transactions, initiatives and projects across the GRE platform, such as: Provide financial analysis for MIM GRE’s strategic initiatives and business projects as required. Where applicable, assist with development of project financials and performance tracking of initiatives. Assist with maintenance and management of policies and playbooks related to the financial operations of the GRE platform.
  • Compliance Management Contribute to the management of compliance requirements for operating controls: Manage the SOX controls walkthrough and testing requests. Perform required SOX controls activities to ensure compliance. Perform an annual review of SOC 1 Reports from the third-party property managers and the third-party portfolio accounting manager and summarize the finding in a checklist/memo.
