Job Purpose: Sony Music Publishing is looking for a highly motivated Senior Analyst to join the North America Financial Planning & Analysis team, based in New York. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work in a Media business undergoing a period of rapid change and development, with a Finance team driven by a commitment to deliver excellent standards of service. You will be joining a small, nimble team that offers a real opportunity to develop an expertise in music publishing and broaden an understanding of financial analysis, strategy, and operations.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in accounting or financial analysis
• Advanced user of Microsoft Office Software applications, particularly Excel (Power Query is a plus), and ability to learn and reconcile to other accounting and financial reporting systems (e.g., Power BI, Business Central, SAP BPC)
• Ability to analyze accounting data and communicate effectively with senior management (including non-finance professionals) to explain conclusions clearly
• Detail-oriented, with an ability to self-review and sense-check conclusions before submitting completed deliverables
• Ability to think through issues in a “big picture” manner, taking into account broader business implications, and recommend and effect appropriate actions and solutions
• Follows through on open issues and meets deadlines in an efficient and effective way, ensuring that open items are resolved satisfactorily and prioritized according to business needs
• Consults manager where appropriate to communicate ideas or solutions, solve problems and complete tasks and projects to deadlines
• Continuously strives to improve performance and efficiency
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• 7.5-hour business workday but variations in work volume frequently require extended working hours for evening and late-night events

Nice To Haves

• Big 4 transaction services/due diligence/deal advisory, Big 4 auditing, or investment banking experience is a plus
• CPA license is a plus

Responsibilities

• Build and update financial models for reporting, budgeting and forecasting purposes: includes detailed revenue models as well as fully integrated income statement, balance sheet and cash flow models
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecast submissions
• Participate in the month end closing process in connection with the North American accounting team
• Analyze current and past trends including all areas of revenue, cost of sales, overhead expenses and investments
• Assist in the creation of strategic and financial materials to corporate parent (Sony Group)
• Communicate and coordinate with various teams (Business Development, Business Affairs, Digital) to gain insights into the industry and company for forecasting and strategy purposes
• Help to create and present business review materials to Sony Music Publishing CEO & CFO
• Build and maintain financial dashboards used by various teams throughout the company
• Ad-hoc reporting and analysis as directed
• Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives and ad-hoc reporting
