About The Position

QuantumScape is on a mission to transform energy storage with solid-state lithium-metal battery technology. The company’s next-generation batteries are designed to enable greater energy density, faster charging and enhanced safety to support the transition away from legacy energy sources toward a lower carbon future. The Finance and Accounting team is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented candidate to join our dynamic finance team as Senior Analyst, Corporate Accounting. The ideal candidate will play a key role in preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing technical accounting support for complex financial transactions. This individual will be responsible in the preparation of quarterly and annual reports, and will play a crucial role in GL accounting, including, but not limited to leases, stock-based compensation and other accounting matters that could impact the Company’s financial statements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in auditing, corporate accounting, or financial reporting
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a Big 4 public accounting firm
  • CPA designation or active progress toward CPA certification

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including other finance functions, Legal, and Investor Relations to ensure accuracy and timeliness in external reporting
  • Prepare all disclosures (financial and non-financial) included in the SEC filings (e.g., Form 10-K, Form 10-Q, Form 8-K and Quarterly Earnings Release)
  • Perform and document tie-outs for SEC filings
  • Perform variance analysis to explain financial performance, identify trends, and ensure accuracy of financial data
  • Perform periodic accounting close tasks including lease accounting, stock-based compensation accounting among others
  • Perform industry peer group benchmark studies and work with manager in making recommendations for the company’s disclosure strategies and policies
  • Facilitate quarterly meetings with business partners and senior management
  • Monitor and research GAAP and SEC developments, document technical positions, and assist in the implementation of new accounting and disclosure standards
  • Identify process improvements to create efficiencies and streamline processes
  • Maintain SOX controls with high quality documentation in accordance with the company’s SOX program
  • Support the external auditors’ audit/reviews of SEC filings, as required
  • Support stock administration activities, including, but not limited to processing of equity transactions and maintaining data in equity management platform
  • Assist with ah-hoc accounting/reporting projects as needed
  • Process equity transactions accurately and timely as needed
