We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer to drive evaluation and model development within Oura’s AI Advisor and custom model initiatives. This role will focus on building novel evaluation systems and tooling, strengthening Oura’s position as a leader in AI-driven health insights, and developing custom AI models that power first-in-class recommendations.
This is a remote US role with a slight preference for candidates based in San Francisco, San Diego, or New York.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in production AI/ML work
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with ML/AI frameworks
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, CDK)
• Experience with fine-tuning, evaluation frameworks, and deployment of LLMs or agentic systems
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and drive product vision
• Initiative and self-direction in research and scientific exploration

Nice To Haves

• Experience leading AI projects
• Experience building AI agents and deploying them to production
• Experience building multimodal GenAI systems

Responsibilities

• Design and implement evaluation systems and tooling to validate Oura’s custom AI models and Advisor
• Develop novel evaluation methods to measure grounding, reliability, and actionability of LLM and agentic systems
• Build and optimize custom AI models through fine-tuning, knowledge distillation, and quantization
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to balance cutting-edge research with practical engineering impact
• Lead initiatives that reduce Oura’s dependency on external AI SaaS providers and accelerate model development
