Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration, it will be performed fulltime on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time. A day in the life of an Aftermarket Manufacturing Engineer: Consists of working side-by-side with hourly and salaried team members to develop new processes to find and eliminate waste, as well as ensuring compliance in repairing our products. Candidates need to be strong at analytical problem solving, identifying root cause, and ensuring systemic corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence. We embrace change, and encourage each other to learn from our failures to drive better and better solutions in the future.   • Reducing turn-around-times by focusing on process bottlenecks such as workmanship defects, knowledge and training gaps, or general process/equipment inefficiencies.
  • Creating technical instructions for the team, documenting repair procedures of controls and subassemblies.
  • Understanding latest industry equipment and manufacturing trends to ensure BAE Systems is continually working to be world-class.
  • Driving adoption of new processes and technologies (automation, robotics, etc) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction, and quality improvement.
  • Leading Kaizen/Six Sigma events that address critical process or equipment issues.
  • Coordinating maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment to ensure optimum utilization.
  • Supporting/leading quality investigations, finding root cause, and implementing systemic corrective actions to prevent.
  • Leveraging understanding of electronics and manufacturing to create, maintain, and improve standardized work instructions and operating procedures.
  • Utilizing factory data to develop and integrate statistical process control strategies.
  • Collaborating with hourly and salaried teams to implement improvements based on employee suggestions.
  • Mentoring early-career engineers, and helping leadership develop/drive long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ year of experience working with manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Ability to enter FAA mandated Anti-Drug Pool. Subject to random drug testing
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, utilizing root cause analysis tools and techniques
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications
  • Significant experience with lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and organize multiple activities in a team environment
  • Ability to interpret and apply specifications, standards, and customer requirements
  • Skills and experience utilizing Oracle, Windchill or Data Analysis software
  • General understanding of electronics manufacturing processes
  • Exposure to Industry 4.0 concepts
