BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Aerospace Materials Engineer for an exciting opportunity to develop new capabilities for the Sentinel ICBM weapon system. This position will provide aerospace materials expertise support to a large DoD acquisition program. The new ICBM program focuses on designing, developing, producing, and deploying new payload system suites, including reentry vehicles and/or countermeasures, with enhancements in accuracy, lethality, and interoperable operations. This is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to shape the development and deployment of our nation’s newest re-entry vehicle—the national security critical backbone of our nuclear deterrent capability. A successful candidate is creative, flexible, and comfortable handling diverse and sometimes conflicting priorities. Job location will be at Hill AFB, Utah. Additional responsibilities include providing weapon system expertise in conducting integrated engineering-level assessments of analysis, production, verification, validation, operation, maintenance, and problem resolution processes as part of the program development cycle and to identify and mitigate design, production, and test deficiencies that could impact successful development. The successful candidate will have a strong background in materials engineering working closely with our team to analyze test results, develop and characterize heat shield materials, and design and optimize ballistic thermal protection systems.
