About The Position

Review cytogenetics cases, interpret results and issue final report to OP/clinical team within the turn-around-time. Assist in the development and maintenance of methods to ensure employee validation and/or competency; assists in seeking and implementing solutions to issues relating to the processing and delivery of highly accurate and precise patient data. Assist to find solutions to enhance the delivery of data to clinicians.

Requirements

A PhD or MD degree is required.
New York State (NYS CoQ) licensed in Cytogenetics.
10+ years of technical experience in cytogenetics and 2+ years of leadership / management experience, required.
Must meet all licensing as required by CLIA, CAP and NYSDOH or Director accreditation from a national certifying agency.

Responsibilities

Review cytogenetics cases, interpret results and issue final report to OP/clinical team within the turn-around-time established by the laboratory.
Assist in the development and maintenance of methods to ensure employee validation and/or competency.
Maintains current policy and procedure manual; reviews and revises as necessary; demonstrates understanding of all tests performed in the Laboratories and answers technical questions as necessary.
Assists in the development, evaluation and maintenance of QC/QA reporting.
Accurately reviews technical, clinical, and interpretive data according to established SOPs to generate high quality clinical reports.
Collaborates with the Medical Director to ensure test results include pertinent information required for testing and be available to the laboratory’s clients on matters related to quality, interpretation and appropriateness of tests ordered.
Establishes and maintains relationships with team members, providing coaching, feedback, support, and performance management as appropriate to ensure the team meets its goals.
Assists in monitoring external PT program.
Able to identify and evaluate clinical implications and risk, escalate as appropriate quickly and decisively.
Ensures compliance with regulatory standards governing the Clinical Lab.
Recognize and resolve abnormal, unusual or unexpected results.
Maintain a quality management program according to written policies and procedures.
Assist in drafting standard operating procedures (SOPs) for internal processes and continual update of SOPs.
Maintains subject matter expertise for clinical areas that are supported, including guidelines for that clinical testing area.
Consultation to the clinical laboratory within her/his area(s) of expertise which will maximize quality patient care and ensure continuous business growth throughout the Laboratories.
