About The Position

As a Senior Advanced Systems Engineer here at Honeywell, you will serve as the primary connection between Engineering and Production for our Navigation product line. This individual ensures rapid response to factory issues, drives root cause and corrective action, and strengthens the link between design intent and manufacturing execution. The engineering development team is based in Minneapolis, MN; the factory production line is in Clearwater, FL. This liaison will ensure close communication and alignment with production and new product introduction (NPI) ISC. You will report directly to our Engineering Manager, and you’ll work out of our Clearwater, FL location on a Hybrid work schedule. The ideal candidate has strong technical breadth, thrives under pressure, and builds trust quickly on the factory floor. They are both problem-solver and bridge-builder, equally comfortable working alongside technicians or collaborating with design engineers on next-generation products. They must also be able to contribute to Commercial Navigation design programs when not engaged with production or NPI.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics.
  • 5 or more years of engineering experience with exposure to both product development and production environments.
  • Physically based in the Clearwater, FL facility (no remote options).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex electromechanical systems at the component and system level.
  • Strong people and communication skills – able to translate between engineering and operations teams effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under time pressure, act with urgency, and make sound decisions in real time.
  • High agency – takes ownership, moves fast, and follows through.
  • Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with IRUs, ADIRUs, and AHRU navigation products
  • Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Proven ability to identify and communicate business impacts (cost, revenue, margin improvement, etc.) of process improvements
  • Hands-on experience in navigation, avionics, or other safety-critical electronics.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles.
  • Systems-level understanding of how electrical, mechanical, and software elements interact in complex hardware systems.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, failure investigation, and corrective action systems.
  • Curiosity, composure, and the ability to earn credibility on the production floor through direct engagement and problem-solving.
  • A collaborative mindset that views Engineering and Operations as one team driving product success together.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the engineering representative on the production floor, providing real-time technical support for product or process issues.
  • Diagnose, prioritize, and resolve production line issues with urgency, coordinating across design, test, and manufacturing teams.
  • Identify and communicate business impacts of potential factory process improvements.
  • Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions to improve yield, throughput, and reliability.
  • Build strong working relationships with operators, technicians, and production leadership to jointly drive problem resolution and process improvements.
  • Capture and communicate lessons learned from production to inform design updates and manufacturing documentation.
  • Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product robustness and manufacturability.
  • When production demands are low, contribute to engineering design, test, and development activities to maintain continuity with evolving product designs.
  • Empowered to make on-the-spot technical assessments and containment decisions to maintain production flow.
  • Maintain clear, concise communication between production and engineering leadership on issue status, containment, and resolution progress.
  • Support Commercial Navigation engineering development programs when not working with the production factory.
