The Senior Advanced Engineering Technician will act as a leader and mentor to new technicians in the support of engineering activities such as designing, testing, checking-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in related discipline or equivalent plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Understands implications of work and provides applicable solutions
  • Distinct knowledge of specialized function and proficiency in application and interpretation of complex specifications, requirements, standards and practices
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards including MIL-STD-461G EMI/EMC and MIL-STD-1399

Responsibilities

  • Interprets complex engineering drawings, diagrams and schematics, and understand the necessary interfaces
  • Performs complex system level troubleshooting to component level
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and troubleshooting functions
  • Lays out, builds, calibrates, adjusts, installs and maintains equipment, components, devices or systems
  • Maintain test equipment, calibration, and lab supplies. Research and order parts and equipment in support of maintaining lab operations.
  • Coordinate lab space, equipment usage, and testing for all programs within GDMS that require Electrical Engineering analog power support.
  • Maintain RF test equipment and provide support for the EMI Test Lab
  • Ensure area compliance to Environmental Health and Safety policies and conduct daily/monthly Safety Awareness Monitor (SAM) inspections of lab areas.
  • Ensure proper PPE/ESD and electrical safety standards are being followed by lab users
