About the position

The Senior Advanced Engineering Technician will act as a leader and mentor to new technicians in the support of engineering activities such as designing, testing, checking-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. This may entail performing the following: Interprets complex engineering drawings, diagrams and schematics, and understand the necessary interfaces. Performs complex system level troubleshooting to component level. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and troubleshooting functions. Previous history in hookup and disconnection of LCS equipment to include working with Multi-Cable Transits. Lays out, builds, calibrates, adjusts, installs and maintains equipment, components, devices or systems. Supports LCS AIT installations. Familiar with Standard Items. Able to interface with subcontractors and provide high level details back to GDMS management as well as the customer. Able to provide details to subcontractors when required. Travel up to 50% a year.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in related discipline or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience or 8 years total experience.
  • Distinct knowledge of specialized function and proficiency in application and interpretation of complex specifications, requirements, standards and practices.
  • Previous experience writing Condition Found Reports, Inspection Deficiency Reports, Daily Status Reports and Work Authorization Forms.
  • OHSA 10 Shipyard Certification.
  • Multi-Pin Connector Certified (009-73).
  • Shipboard Fiber Optic Termination Certification (009-123).
