About The Position

To provide quality educational and family services through the career and technical and adult education programs and to assist the senior director in managing the district and its human and material resources.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Certificated as a Vocational Director or Adult Education Administrator or in Educational Leadership in the State of Florida.
  • Five (5) years of successful teaching and/or administrative experience; vocational certified program area or Adult Education preferred.
  • Experience working with and through people, in establishing goals, objectives, and action plans to produce expected results.
  • Knowledge of teaching and learning processes.
  • Knowledge of organization and management theory and practice.
  • Knowledge and commitment to shared decision-making and accountability for results that facilitate creative processes toward achievement of district goals.
  • Knowledge of adult education theory and practice, school budget development and implementation, finance, and support services delivery systems.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with people to focus resources (both human and financial) toward the achievement of district goals.
  • Ability to promote career and technical education and adult education through interaction with the community, organizations, agencies, and business and industry.
  • Knowledge of and ability to work with labor relations and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Ability to facilitate group processes in consensus building, conflict resolution, planning and decision-making.
  • Understands that quality teaching and learning are the essential processes and product of public schools and has the ability to focus human and financial resources toward this end.

Responsibilities

  • Models the routine, intentional and effective use of technology in daily work, including communications, organization and management tasks.
  • Direct, oversee and evaluate district staff assigned to the career and technical and adult education section in terms of their effect in supporting education programs at the technical centers.
  • As directed by and delegated by the Senior Director, assume responsibility and accountability for planning, developing and implementing with and through the staff, programs, activities and functions designed to achieve tech center and district priorities.
  • Analyze programs, activities and functions under his/her supervision to identify disparities between "what is" (current condition) and "what ought to be" (desired condition) and working through people to develop plans to eradicate the disparities as they relate to tech center goals and district priorities
  • Administer the budgets for assigned work locations
  • As designated by the Senior Director, recruit, supervise and evaluate full- and part-time instructional staff in terms of their performance and responsibilities in the achievement of tech center goals and district priorities.
  • Work with teachers and staff members to identify problems and issues (disparities) for which they may need expertise and support services for their won training and development to effectively address the problems and issues (disparities).
  • Ensure compliance with district/state/federal requirements for designated areas of responsibility including completion points (LCPs and OCPs) and other performance-based outcomes.
  • Assess business, industry and community requirements and incorporate strategies in programs to ensure that completers are employable and maximize funding through the performance-based funding system.
  • Assess business, industry and community requirements and incorporate strategies to provide effective Career and Technical Education programs and other efforts to meet established needs at both on and off campus locations.
  • Maintain visibility in the community and be recognized as an educational leader who is responsive to needs of centers and the community.
  • Serve as a member of the Senior Director’s leadership team and participate in the district’s planning, development and evaluation.
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to all HRMD guidelines, executive limitations, the district’s instructional initiatives, and the school district’s charter guidelines.
  • Follow the district’s policies and procedures as related to fixed assets.
  • Develop leadership in subordinates.
  • Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology being used by OCPS. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
  • Responsible for maintaining timely and accurate information and accountable for the quality of information maintained by those they supervise.
  • Responsible for self-development and keeping up to date on current research, trends and best practices relevant to the area of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
