About The Position

Waukesha County Circuit Court Services is recruiting detail-oriented professionals to fill two positions within the Criminal/Traffic Division of Circuit Court. Work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with occasional overtime. Legal Clerk: This position is responsible for delivering a high level of customer service; scheduling matters for the court official; reviewing paperwork for completeness; and drafting correspondence and orders for the judge’s signature. The position provides prompt and efficient customer service through face-to-face contact, telephone conversations, and written correspondence with the public, attorneys, other departments, justice partners, and co-workers, including communication through the eFiling system, paper filings, or facsimile. The position handles difficult confrontations by remaining calm and professional and by using sound judgment. The position maintains rapport within the assigned judicial branch, across the division, and throughout the department. Once cross-trained, the position also covers for the Deputy Clerk by clerking court proceedings. Commissioner Deputy Clerk: This position is responsible for capturing and maintaining accurate court records by entering information into CCAP—both in and out of court—in a timely manner. The position accurately reviews, processes, and distributes work and information to appropriate clerks, court officials, and justice partners. It also accurately prepares court orders and required forms and distributes them to appropriate agencies in a timely manner. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a positive demeanor in the courtroom and to willingly serve and assist court officials, justice partners, co-workers, attorneys, and the public. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three years of post high school work experience providing administrative support
  • One year of recognized post high school training in business, administrative professional or closely related field may substitute for one year of the work experience requirement
