About the position

The Senior Actuarial Analyst in Programs Pricing at AmTrust Financial plays a crucial role in supporting an $800 million in-force book by conducting profitability analyses, monitoring program performance, and collaborating with various departments to enhance profitability. This hybrid position requires strong analytical skills and effective communication with actuarial leadership and external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regularly scheduled profitability studies by Program and Line of Business for AmTrust's Program business.
  • Identify segments for growth and remediation, proposing solutions to maintain or return segments to profitability.
  • Evaluate new program opportunities and collaborate with Underwriting, Compliance, Claims, and Legal to onboard new programs.
  • Monitor the Programs book to develop new monitoring strategies for timely rate and underwriting actions.
  • Communicate pricing analysis results to actuarial leadership, underwriting, and external business partners.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor underwriting actions to maximize profitability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial, Math, Economics, Statistics, or a similar field requiring significant quantitative analysis.
  • 2-4 years of Actuarial experience in a commercial property-casualty insurance company and actively pursuing CAS exams.
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office, particularly Excel, as it applies to actuarial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with various stakeholders.
  • Experience in pricing lines of business such as Auto, GL, Property, Professional Liability, and Umbrella.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SQL code, including querying datasets and modifying existing code.
  • Experience with state filings, including submitting filings and responding to objections.
  • Pricing experience in Workers' Compensation, Medical Malpractice, and Umbrella.
